CABU JAZZ MASTERS
Even today, one of the first names that comes to everyone's mind when it comes to jazz piano is that of Oscar Peterson . This imposing Canadian virtuoso is not only the brilliant instrumentalist acclaimed by all audiences, he is also a magnificently gifted musician, a solid swingman and, on occasion, a good accompanist. Oscar has perfectly assimilated the influences of Nat King Cole , Art Tatum , Erroll Garner , George Shearing and Bud Powell to invent a seductive and catchy style. Here he is at the peak of his career from start to finish accompanied by Ray Brown , his most faithful and robust double bassist and, in turn, by the two guitarists who knew how to blend best with his trio, Barney Kessel and Herb Ellis .
In the first CD, Oscar plays Count Basie , assisted by the great drummer Buddy Rich , then some great authors of American "standards", Gershwin , Ellington , Arlen , Berlin ... The second CD features some of the most memorable recordings “live” from the great pianist: no one will resist Tenderly or How High The Moon !
